Acklam acquired the vacant retail building in 2020 and gained planning consent in 2021 to transform it into an exciting new urban development, with two ground floor commercial units on the high street, blue badge parking with electric charge points and 40 residential apartments.
The site is well located in middle of the High Street, directly opposite the Walnuts Shopping Centre. The Walnuts Shopping Centre was acquired by a property development fund which has submitted a planning application for a major mixed use development in a range of buildings up to 24 storeys, with leisure, retail and up to 1,000 residential units.
The site is within walking distance to Orpington Station, which provides regular direct services in 15-25 minutes to London Bridge, Waterloo East, London Charing Cross and London Victoria.
